Obituary

Alvis Leon DeHart, Sr., 80, of Hickman, Kentucky passed away 3:35 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Diversicare of Fulton.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Robert Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow in Fremont Cemetery near Union City.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Chambers, Brent Williams, Todd DeHart, Josh Smith, Tyler Hunter and Wayne McCollum.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Destiny Baggett, Brianne Baggett, Riley Chambers, Josh Smith, Eric Toombs, Candie Hunter, Sagie DeHart, Todd DeHart, Collin DeHart, Tabatha Conrad, Jayson DeHart, Robert Lee Pool, Cassie Gibbs, Kisha Pool, Christy Burger, Andrea Elston, Angela Penn and Gary Wheeler.

Mr. DeHart was born January 30, 1938, in the Walnut Log community, son of the late Otho Cleveland and Mattie (Beard) DeHart. He married Carolyn (Toombs) DeHart October 14, 1976. She survives. Alvis had been employed by the City of Hickman and was the former owner of Bypass Liquor Store in Hickman, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

He is also survived by four daughters, Mashelle Chambers (Jeff) of the Clayton community, Nola Wheeler (Dennis) of Milledgeville, Georgia, Brenda DeHart Pool of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Tracye DeHart Kressman of Sulphur, Louisiana; three sons, Jerry DeHart (Bridget) of Hickman, Kentucky, Leon DeHart (Angie) of Fulton, Kentucky and Joe Toombs (Mid) of Kenton; three sisters, Edna Haney of South Fulton, Linda Rice of Hickman, Kentucky and Brenda Basham of the Walnut Log community; son-in-law, David Kressman of Sulphur, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lou Grygo; and two brothers, Jerry G. DeHart and Dan DeHart.
