Mr. A.L. Yates, 87, of Union City passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Truitt Cockrell will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Walton, Scott Giles, Keith Ransom, Ryan Bennett and Austin Kinnard.

A.L. was born April 13, 1937, in Obion County, son of the late James Alexander and Bertha Frances (Johnson) Yates. He married Josephine "Jo" (Schmidt) Yates November 11, 1966. She preceded him in death January 26, 2006. A.L. had been employed at the former Brown Shoe Company for 20 years, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union City in food service and retired from final finish at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 11 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Rives.

He is survived by one niece, Julia Ransom of Union City; and two nephews, Ronnie Storey and Jimmy Hawkins both of Union City; and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearlie Williams and Viola Storey; and three brothers, John Yates, Fred Yates and Paul Yates.
