George Allen "Al" Childrey, 67, of Union City passed away 12:49 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday at First Methodist Church in Union City. Rev. Roger Shock will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday and at First Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Alan Terry, Jesse Molloy, Justin McCullough, Cody Spaulding, Chance Stowe, Brian Aldridge, Mark Moore, Randy Ursery, George Evans, Jim Adams, Steve Sedberry and Seth Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Collision Specialty and members of the Character Builders Sunday School Class.
Memorial donations may be made to Hometown Walk of Hope , 902 Perkins Street, Union City, Tennessee 38261 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Al was born December 6, 1955, in Pontiac, Illinois, son of the late James Madison and Iris Louise (Drummond) Childrey. He was the owner and operator of Collision Specialty in Union City for 38 years. Al was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling to games with his friends. He had coached youth baseball in Union City for 25 years and loved animals. Al was a member of First Methodist Church in Union City.
He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Murphy and husband Greg of Everett, Washington; his brother, Joe David Childrey and wife Danette of Fairview, North Carolina; his companion, Tina Isbell of Union City; his two nieces, Cara McCafferty and husband James of Camano Island, Washington and Kasie Sedwick of Centralia, Illinois; his great niece and great nephew, Madeleine McCafferty and Benjamin McCafferty both of Camano Island, Washington; Teresa Underwood of Troy who was like a little sister to Al; and his special cousin, Evelyn Rudd of Mason Hall.
