Super Roney 1947-2014
Mr. Aaron Prather "Super" Roney, 67, of Union City died 1:01 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Cecil Sewell and Rev. Jimmy Calhoun will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Larry Killian, Kenny Shaw, John Davis, Norman Williams, Randy Barnes and Billy Crigger.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hope Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Union City.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Hometown Walk of Hope, P.O. Box 482, Union City, Tennessee 38281.
Mr. Roney was born March 25, 1947, in Union City, son of the late Willis Aaron and Mildred (Jackson) Roney. He married Nancy (Griffin) Roney May 31, 1970. She survives. Mr. Roney had been the owner and operator of the former Super's Auto Parts in Union City from 1980 to 1996 and Automotive Specialties from 1997 to 2014. He had been a member of the Union City Civitan Club for 25 years where he had been named Civitan of the year two years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City and had attended First Baptist Church in Union City for 44 years. Mr. Roney had coached Little League and Senior Babe Ruth baseball for over 15 years.
He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jessica Roney of Dickson and John and Amber Roney of Chandler, Arizona; four grandchildren, Emily Roney, Olivia Roney and Alex Roney all of Dickson and Lila Roney of Chandler, Arizona; two sisters, Mary Jane Clark and Jackie Vaughn both of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
